Bio – Wes Timmons

Wes Timmons is the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Director of Runway Safety. Previously he has served as Manager of the Safety Management Division in the Air Traffic Safety Oversight Service where he was responsible for the oversight of the FAA’s Air Traffic Organization’s Safety Management System (SMS). Prior to that Mr. Timmons served as the Deputy for the Aviation Safety Organization’s Office of Quality and Integration and as Manager, System Safety Engineering and Analysis Division within the FAA’s Office of System Safety.

Prior to joining the FAA Mr. Timmons was Vice President of an aviation consulting firm and was primarily responsible for safety and compliance audits of airlines (domestic and international) and corporate flight departments. He also served as an Airport Manager at a fully instrumented, towered airport and as a commercial pilot. Mr. Timmons served as a flight officer in the US Military for 23 years.
