Dr. Salazar received his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1979 from the University of Puerto Rico’s School of Medicine. He served in the Navy for 25 years as a Flight Surgeon spending his last 12 years with the Marines of MAG-41 at the NAS-JRB Fort Worth. He retired from the Naval Reserve in 2004, after multiple deployments including two years in Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.

In 1992 he was selected as the Regional Flight Surgeon, Southwest Region, Fort Worth, Texas and remains in that capacity at the present time. Dr. Salazar is certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine as a specialist in Aerospace Medicine, and is licensed to practice medicine in Texas. Among other honors he is a Fellow of the Aerospace Medical Association; an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas; and past President of the Iberoamerican Association of Aerospace Medicine. He has numerous publications and articles to his credit including chapters in textbooks of aerospace medicine. He is a regular speaker at aviation and medical events both in the U.S. and abroad, and is a private pilot.
